Da Da Da by Trio (review) - Strange, Fun, German Punk/New Wave Hit from 1982

This came out in 1982, when music was in a strange time of transition. Disco was essential over, but hip-hop and rap had not yet taken over. Classic rock was still classic, and the Talking Heads were considered alternative. "The Trio" delivered a minimalistic song without much more of a theme than his lover left. Infectious, yet practically metronomic, "Da Da Da" had a lean attraction to it. It was both completely a 1980s Euro-synth song, but it defied many of the criteria. There is a real drum, keyboard synth, only one singer - no backup but the singer himself. Part-punk and part-New Wave, it lives in a hard to define category.

"I know why you ran away, aha
Understand you couldn't stay, aha
Wonder where you are today, aha
After all was said and done
It was right for you to run!
Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me Aha Aha Aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht"

I fully recommend "Da Da Da" by "The Trio."
